Activated tamari almonds
Prepare to become addicted
ingredients
2 cups of almonds
16 oz of water
big pinch of salt
3 tbsp of tamari (or coconut aminos)
Directions
Soak almonds in a bowl with water (covering almonds) and a pinch of salt for 8-12 hours (overnight works great). After the soak, preheat your oven to 185 F, rinse off your almonds, and place in a bowl, add in the tamari and toss until everything is well coated. On a parchment-covered baking sheet, add your tamari-coated almonds and make sure they are spread out into one layer. Place them in the oven for 10-12 hours. To know if they are done, I pull one out around the 10-hour mark, let it cool and taste it to see if it is crunchy. It should snap and not feel soggy or else they need to dehydrate longer.
